Li Family Photo Session At home in Brookhaven

Documentary Family Photography at Home

There’s a unique charm in the everyday moments that often go unnoticed—the little interactions, the subtle glances, the unspoken bonds. As a documentary family photographer, my mission is to tag along with families and capture these genuine, unscripted moments that truly define their essence. Recently, I had the privilege of spending a day with the Li family, and it was a super sweet session.

The day started with the soft morning light streaming through the living room windows as their 3 year old worked on his favorite project these days: playing with Magna-Tiles. I captured his concentration, the way his eyes lit up with each new piece added, and a favorite of mine—the view from Mom’s point of view in the kitchen.

Next, it was time to head outside. The family spent time swinging, playing hide and seek and kicking the soccer ball, as well as playing with pumpkins of course. None of these were staged pictures, or even planned activities. Candid family photography captures real life moments that often I would never think to set up. You can’t beat real life.

Once we headed back inside, the family baked a sweet treat with each other, and then built a play tent. Laughter and snuggles were sprinkled throughout the day, and nobody felt pressure to perform. It was just a laid back day spent together.

This session with the Li family was a beautiful reminder of why I love documentary family photography. It’s about more than just pictures; it’s about capturing the heart and soul of a family in their most natural state. The Li' day was filled with simple, sweet moments, and I’m grateful I was there to witness and preserve them.

If you're interested in having your family's everyday magic documented, let's connect. Whether it's playing with Magna-Tiles, sharing stories, baking treats, or just hanging out in the backyard, I’d love to tag along and capture the moments that make your family unique.
