The Meehan Newborn Photography Session at Candler Park

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family of four at Candler Park. To be honest, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from the session, especially given that it was my first outdoor newborn shoot. One of the elements of newborn photography that I love the most is capturing the essence of the home each family has created. Whether a home is full of chaos or calm, it is an integral part of a family's story, reflecting their unique rhythm and life.

However, with the pandemic in full swing, we all had to be flexible to ensure everyone's safety. I now offer newborn sessions either at home or outside, taking necessary precautions by wearing a mask and maintaining a safe distance during both types of sessions. This adaptability has allowed me to continue creating beautiful memories for families while prioritizing health and safety.

This particular session at Candler Park turned out to be a delightful experience. The family brought a cozy blanket and some toys to keep the big sister entertained. The park provided a lovely backdrop that complemented the warmth and love radiating from this family.

The session beautifully encapsulated the family’s current stage of life, with all its joys and nuances. The parents' tenderness towards their newborn, the big sister’s playful energy, and the collective sense of togetherness were all vividly captured in the photographs. The park, with its open spaces and natural beauty, provided the perfect environment to create honest, heartwarming photos that tell the story of this family's life at this moment.

My documentary approach to family photography is a laid back approach that makes it possible for everyone to just relax and even enjoy themselves. Nobody has to perform or do anything because I told them to, and this let’s kids especially show off their personalities. Documentary family photography is another way of saying artful candid family photography—I just tag a long and capture your real life.
