Atlanta Family Yearbook | A Year in the Life | Fall 2024

Documentary Family Photography

Nothing is better than real life, and candid photographs are simply magical. My clients of course know they are being photographed, but I try to be like a fly on the wall. The connections and personalities that shine through when people are just being themselves and I am making documentary family pictures are beautifully real.

When I say “Real Life is the Best,” what I mean is that I couldn’t dream up some of the photos that happen in front of me. I see magic candid moments and compose a picture in an artful way.

People, and families, are silly and complex. While I believe portraits are an important piece of history, the artful candids are so much more interesting to me. Throughout A Year in the Life we will get some portraits, but most of the pictures I make will be completely unposed and candid.

Documentary Family Photography is stress free—not in the ‘Don’t worry I’ll make your family look perfect’ kind of way, but in the ‘Don’t worry, your family is perfect just the way you are’ kind of way

Year in the Life

Year in the Life is a subscription family photography service that I offer to families who want what I do for my own family: multiple sessions throughout the year with a gorgeous album of highlights at the end. This project has been a game changer for me, and really made it clear that I want to document families over time.

Families can choose to plan some time all together, or to dedicate each session to one or some of the family members. Sessions can be at home hanging out or a fun outing. Planned or totally unplanned. Stress free storytelling that your family will actually enjoy.

Some things you might love about Year in the Life:

  • It’s a set it and forget it way to ensure that you are capturing pieces of your crazy busy life as parents that goes by so quickly. It's so easy, and perfect for how busy you are.

  • It’s a way to be sure that you are in some of the photos! Not only do you exist but you are totally rocking this parenthood thing, even through the tantrums.

  • Not only will you have amazing authentic storytelling pictures on a hard drive, but you will have an album that you can hold in your hands for so many years to come. Your grandkids will be able to see how magic your family is. A very cool time capsule.

Year in the Life | Fall 2024

Fall is my favorite season. Every so often my 12 year old and I debate the merits and drawbacks of the seasons, and I always land on Fall. A break from the heat is always welcome, and never man was that especially true this year. The school year is in full force, and with the holidays on the horizon it feels like families naturally pull inward in a way that I love to witness.

Enjoy some of my favorite photos from Fall 2024 Year in the Life photo sessions.

Nothing says fall like pumpkin carving and costumes!

As the temperatures eased some, a Sunday morning box of donuts and a blanket at the park made for great family connections. Trees were climbed and books were read while snuggles and laughter abounded.

A trip to the zoo is always a great option for Year in the Life sessions. When everyone is having fun I’ll be able to make photos full of personality and connection.

More pumpkins! Plus a petting zoo and corn field, we had a great evening at Sleepy Hollow farms.

Family camping trips take me right back to my childhood. Last year this family dipped their toes into camping with yurt camping, and this year I was able to spend a couple of hours with them on day 2 of tent camping trip.

Year in the Life is a 12 month subscription with 12, 6 or 4 sessions plus an album of highlights at the end of the year. A super cool family yearbook that documents and celebrates the everyday life of family.
